STOP SELLING BRAZING ALLOYS CONTAINING CADMIUM FROM THE 9TH OF DECEMBER 2011

For several years, Climalife has  recommended cadmium free brazing alloys that meet your requirements. We have previously advised our customers about the disadvantages of cadmium.

Following the European regulation 494/2011, the annex 17 of REACH has been updated. It will be prohibited after the 10th December 2011 to use or sell brazing alloys containing more than 0.01% (weight) cadmium.

We will therefore stop selling brazing alloys containing cadmium from the 9th of December.

We are already in the position to supply substitutes with similar fusion temperatures that meet your requirements.

REGULATION INFORMATION:

On 21st May, the regulation (UE) n°494/2011 was published to modify the annex XVII (point 23 paragraph 8) of regulation (CE) n°1907/2006 (REACH).
This modification refers to cadmium and its compounds and their use in brazing alloys.
This new regulation prohibits the use and sale of brazing alloys containing more than 0.01% weight of cadmium for high temperature brazing from the 10th December 2011.
By high temperature brazing, we mean an assembly process, realised by the means of brazing alloys at temperatures above 450°C.
There is derogation to brazing fillers used in defence and aerospace applications and to brazing fillers used for safety reasons.
